Bio

Streak has a sharply critical and eclectic eye. His more recent work is characterized by his ability to transform mundane materials into simple, yet complex objects that give new value and meaning to their intersection. Streak was the first South African to be accepted into the prestigious Rijksakademie van beeldende Kunsten in 1997 – 1998. His first feature documentary film Beauty and the Beasts won a Special Mention Jury Award at the 2006 Durban International Film Festival and a year later he was awarded the much-vaunted Ampersand Fellowship. He teaches at the Durban University of Technology as well as runs two companies Garage Design Lab and Source Creative. He has exhibited throughout South Africa, in India, Brazil, USA and most recently at Art Amsterdam (2010). His work is found in the Durban Art Gallery, Sasol Art Collection and numerous private collections. He lives and works in Durban, South Africa.
