Derek Real

Derek Royal is a clinical associate professor in the School of Arts, Technology, and Emerging Communication at the University of Texas at Dallas. He is also the producer and cohost of A Alternativa Comics podcast. His books include Visualizing Jewish Narrative: Jewish Comics and Graphic Novels, Unfinalized Moments: Essays in the Development of Contemporary Jewish American Narrative, andPhilip Roth: New Perspectives of an American Author. His scholarship on comics, literature, and film have appeared in a variety of peer-reviewed journals and edited collections.
