Geophysics, Volcanology, Design and Innovation
Saskia Van Manen’s core interest is mitigating the effects of natural hazards through the use of innovative and transdisciplinary approaches in disaster risk management. Her current focus is the use of design to develop strategies that maximise community resilience. She is a Branco Weiss Society in Science Research Fellow based at the Open University (UK) and is currently a Visiting Fellow at the Parsons Institute for Information Mapping (USA). She holds an M.Sci. in Geophysics from Imperial College London (2006), a PhD from the Open University in Volcanology (2010) and an MA in Design and Innovation from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (2014).
