Bio

Niccolò Bonacchi was born in Italy and has been living in Portugal for over 25 years. His career began as a circus artist where his main activity was watching people in order to play different characters. This led him to be interested in psychology and human behavior and has culminated in several years of artistic/social interventions both as a clown and as a psychologist. His love for computers, AI and science fiction eventually led him to Biology, Neuro-biology and Neuroscience. He holds a MSc in Psychobiology from the Higher Institute of Applied Psychology (ISPA-IU) and a PhD in Neuroscience from the Nova University of Lisbon (UNL).
His PhD research, at the Champalimaud Neuroscience Programme (CNP), was focused on how animals represent goals, the outcomes they expect to obtain and how these expectations influence behavior.
Currently he is working as a Post-doc in the Systems Neuroscience Lab at the Champalimaud Center for the Unknown (CCU) in Lisbon.
