Adrian Avendaño

Adrian Emmanuel Avendano-Bolivar was born in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. He is the son of Manuela Bolivar-Duarte and brother of Melany Avendano-Bolivar and Alejandro Avendano-Bolivar. He finished his B.E. in Mechatronic Engineering at the Saltillo Technology Institute in 2007. After working for GE Electric Distribution Equipment division he started graduate work at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) in 2008. He received his M.S. in materials science and engineering with a focus in electronic materials from UT Dallas in 2011. During the spring of that year he founded with other fellow students the Mexican Association of Students (MAS) at UT Dallas and was appointed president. He was also elected that summer as a student representative for the materials science and engineering department. He was an intern for Qualcomm in San Jose, California, in the Qualcomm MEMs Technologies department during summer 2011. In 2012 he joined the Advanced Polymer Research Lab at UT Dallas under the supervision of Professor Walter Voit to pursue doctoral studies focused on the design and fabrication of thin film transistors (TFTs) on shape memory polymers to implement flexible and stretchable electronics for biomedical applications. After graduation in July 2014, he started a flexible electronics company called Ares Materials in order to enable flexible electronics for consumer markets.
